Watch Battery Life

While away foreign, I purchased a watch - not a cheap knock off, but from a reputiable store out there.
now the thing is, When I was here a week, the battery died on me, so I took it to a local watch repair shop(3 weeks ago), they fitted a new Battery, but the thing has died again - well assuming it has died, has not moved on from 11:27, the time/date button does not respond, nor does the reset button.
Now i am thinking to myself - is the watch faulty, or just the batteries.

The only Identification i can find on the watch is a number imprinted on the back which is CB14307N - googling finds nothing on it. It is a CUBE watch if that helps.
Is there any special type of battery it requires?

Re: Watch Battery Life

Sounds like a fault on the watch causing the battery to discharge too quickly. Doubt if anyone would make a watch these days that required a specialist battery as they would struggle to sell them.

Re: Watch Battery Life

I would tend to agree that the watch is faulty. Although, assuming it's digital, if it were draining the battery, surely the display would be blank?

Re: Watch Battery Life

Could have been a faulty replacement battery, try another one or take it back and ask for a replacement battery before condemning the watch !

Re: Watch Battery Life

its a kinda digital watch, no numbers, just lcd blocks(strange and unusual watch) but there has been no fading or blinking from it that would suggest the battery is dying.

gonna try another Battery tomorrow and see what its like from there.

Re: Watch Battery Life

If it's showing anything on an LCD at normal contrast, then there should be enough battery - sure it's not in the wrong mode?

Re: Watch Battery Life

Watch batteries can be a bit of a bugger at times - the low current taken by the watch means that even the slightest spot of dirt or oxide on the contacts can cause a bad connection and make the battery appear suddenly dead.

Its probably just a matter of opening the watch and cleaning the contacts - but unless you have the right kit to open it I'd be wary, I've seen a friend try to open a watch before now using a watchmakers screwdriver.. he slipped. The screwdriver slid and the end embedded itself in his palm (almost all the way through) and as a result he dropped the watch onto the tiled floor and it smashed the front.

Worse part about it? After he'd been taken off to get his hand looked at I was clearing up the mess and blood drops, and I happened to notice that the watch was actually one with a screw on back.

He wasn't a happy bunny.

Re: Watch Battery Life

Well i took it to a jewellers and they replaced the battery again, when the battery was inserted, the display came as normal, But i am unable to change to the correct time.
the date /time button is fine, but the adjust button will not work when pushed in, even the jewellers were unable to get it to work.
gonna have to see about getting it fixed somehow.
