New job, which involves some european travel.
Hi
After 10 month on the rock N roll I've landed the perfect job, 30min drive from home.
It for a major courier company (with an explosive name), I help maintain the aircraft, yesterday I had a look at a 757 up close and personal (able to touch as well as sit in the pilots seat)
This job will involve some travel into euro (mainly Belguim & France overnight). Now my problem, I'm a very fussy eater, I never eat in resturants or other such establishment.
I was told that I could take my own "packed lunch" (thay said that thay've take food in to europe that they cannot buy there.
does anybody know about this? I've visited the CAA website but no luck/
thanks

Re: New job, which involves some european travel.
this is quite an old link, but is an example of a 'personal allowance' for import of food into the UK
Code:
1.0 kg of meat cooked in a hermetically sealed container
1.0 kg of fish
1.0 kg of milk powder (from specified countries only)
2.0 kg of fruit/raw vegetables*
1 bouquet of cut flowers
5 retail packets of seeds*
2.0 kg of bulbs, corms, tubers and rhizomes* **
5 other plants* **
Notes:
* not potatoes
** Euro-Mediterranean region only

Re: New job, which involves some european travel.
Does anybody here work at either the London City Airport, or another UK airport check in desk?
I tried to phone the Info desk at LCA but they didn't know and tried to pass me on to a check in desk but they were engaged.
To clarify what I want to do is take Plain buttered rolls/sandwiches, crisps & cereal bars in to Belguim, for my personal consumption. I've been on here website but couldn't find anything.

There should not be any problem, provided there is no foot & mouth disease or something of that sort. If there is, they tend to become a bit fussy over meat/dairy products. Normally, you can pretty much take what you want (within reason).

I've taken food into europe before but that was on a coach, wouldn't an areoplane be different?

No. Why would it? It's like a coach, except that it travels through the air.

Yikes! Surely that will render it unfit for human consumption?

Re: New job, which involves some european travel.
You should be fine with Sandwhich's.
I've taken my packed lunch on the plane to Europe many times.

Because you can have Moules et Frites (washed down with a few bollekes of De Koninck), amongst many other lovely things. The Belgians take their food very seriously
