Croaked :(

Let the grass grow on the front lawn a little bit longer than i usually do (i've been busy of late) so had to pull out my trusty old challenge strimmer to get it down to a length that my mower could handle.

Strimming away, i heard the wire snap so looked down to see what i'd hit. I've only gone and chopped a leg off a frog How the hell a frog ended up here i don't know? The nearest water is the canal about a third of a mile away!

Thing is the frog is still with us. It can't jump forward anymore but it's good at circles. In short should i take a spade to it's head or do i keep it safe and warm for a few weeks and release it back into the garden?

I like frogs so what's my best course of action?

Cause it hit the strimmer macca. I know wholegrain is good for the heart but i'm not into shredded feet

Re: Croaked :(

Seriously it's been 5 hours and the frog is still looking lively and trying it's best to jump out of a bowl. Is there a chance it can make it if i drop it into a stream or something?

Do you not have a wildlife rescue in your area at all?

Re: Croaked :(

Wouldn't it only be able to move in one big circle with a leg missing?

Or not be able to jump even...

Re: Croaked :(

Macca371: please read the first post. I did mention it's ability to jump.

Jules: I have no idea if there's a wildlife centre near us but if it shows signs of suffering i will do a painless kill with the sharp edge of a spade. Don't really want to but it will ease it's suffering.

Did he also inadvertantly chop its leg off and then use part of the straw to make a crutch so that the frog could jump in a straight line once again? Or did your barbaric friend shove the straw up it's bum and blew so hard that it exploded?

You have (supposed) nice friends.
