Re: TV Licencing - sign the petition
ooh look another tv licensing thread... *sighs*
Under the terms of my tenancy my landlord is responsible for paying for the TV license so doesn't affect me...

Personally I don't think "Sign this" is a good way to motivate people to sign it....

I agree don't sign. We can all look forward to more single mothers imprisoned because it's just too damned expensive in the future

Re: TV Licencing - sign the petition
Abolish the TV licence? Ok, fair enough suggestion, but no mention of how the BBC is to be funded instead. Or is it another of those dumb 'give it to me free because I want it' type of things that gets the public a reputation for being unintelligent?
I like the BBC because it doesn't interrupt programmes every few minutes for adverts. I can listen to BBC radio stations in the morning without half my journey to work being stupid adverts. With no licence fee, unless you're going to tax it somewhere else, the BBC will be forced to take adverts and I am opposed to that.
So I'll keep the TV licence thanks. It's not perfect but it's better than the alternatives.

Re: TV Licencing - sign the petition
I hate ads with a vengeance. The Beeb produces quality tv, has no ads and I have no problem paying for it.

I used to think like you, then i got to thinking, MOst of Radio one is made up of halfwits that love the sound of their own voice, they play very little music and spend far too long talking about drivel.
As for the BBC, stop funding, if it cant support itself.....good riddance.
I dont see why, if the BBC receives its funding, we cannot opt oput of having BBC and not pay the licence.

Re: TV Licencing - sign the petition
Frankly I'm more likely to sign petitions for issues like abuse of human rights or to protest the waste in the NHS and the cutbacks resulting from that wastage.Or to call for the abolition of student fees.Or to stop the government pushing throuh the building of thousands of homes on the south coast when we do not have enough of an infrastructure to support a large influx of people and we already have gridlocked roads and a crappy emergency hospital service.
There are far worse things than us subsidising state funded broadcasting to worry about.

Re: TV Licencing - sign the petition
TBH, I think there are more important things to be petitioning against.
So, no, I will not be signing.

Re: TV Licencing - sign the petition
I won't be signing it either, i have no problem with paying my TV licence fee. From reading the comments on that petition thingy, i bet most of them don't even pay it, so in my opinion are very hypocritical and shouldn't really be signing such a petition.
I pay mine, and i only really watch eastenders, but i don't care it's worth it *awaits the mocking*

Re: TV Licencing - sign the petition
To be honest its all about the options.
People don't want to pay for channels they don't want to watch. I can see where he's coming from.
