Daffodils
Where are they ? I am sure that they are usually flowering by this time of year, I know it's cold but it usually doesn't bother them.
Is is just to cold just yet, or are the seasons shifting ? we put the clocks forward in 13 days.
It all seems a bit strange to me and slightly worrying.

Re: Daffodils
It's been too cold for them - the lawn outside Port Talbot Civic Centre is usually full of them by mid-march, so far there's nothing this year.

Re: Daffodils
They are just beginning to flower here - most of them are still in bud though, and have been at that stage for 3 weeks or more.

Re: Daffodils
On Breakfast news they were saying that this has been the coldest March since 1987.This has meant that all the spring flowers are delayed and it is predicted that every spring flower will be out in one glorious flowering later in the year.I suggest all you keen photographers take your cameras out and about for the first signs of spring, post them here and we can see who is the first and who has the best.
I did notice that there was a cherry tree flowering around the corner from my house..I may stroll round there and take a piccy if it's not too cold.

Re: Daffodils
I'm concerned about the insects/birds that take advantage of an early bloom. Let's just hope it's a bad year and not what we should be expecting in the future as well.

Re: Daffodils
Today I noticed the snowdrops are flowering nicely. Only two months late.
Though we do have some dwarf narcissi and irises out, too.

Re: Daffodils
Lots of snowdrops and Crocusses all over the place.
As for daffodills, you can see their heads coming up, but I think we need to wait a few more weeks yet.
