Re: house insurance
Most insurance policies will not cover you for wants of repair, or your failing to maintain. An insured peril has to have operated usually, fire, explosion, storm, flood, escape of water, etc.
Thus if tiles have fallen off you probably need to show it was due to "storm" or some other unusual weather condition. Was it very windy?
In many cases insurance will cover you for the consequence of something failing, but not the failure itself. Thus if water gets in and damages your ceiling you may be able to claim for that, but not the repair to the roof tiles that led to the leak. Similar happens with burst pipes - the failed water tank isn't covered but the subsequent damage might well be - subject of course to policy excesses.
Still there is no harm in asking the insurance co. Just have some facts up your sleeve so you can give positive answers when you phone. But don't make false claims they'll probably sus you (for example insurers have acces to met office records so know what the weather actually did).
