Re: Circulatory System Questions

Well number 1 is generally to stop you from dying

For 2 its main function is to distribute oxygenated blood from the heart around the body and to return de-oxygenated blood to the lungs.

Thats the *very* basic version of it. You should be able to find some more at:

If you're revising for exams, the BBC byte-size website ought to be helpful.

It also carries hormones through the system without these we would not grow or function in anyway, and removes waste products from the lymphatic system also carries antibodies to fight disease

Re: Circulatory System Questions

Main function is to carry oxygen and nutrients to the tissues of the body, especially the brain. secondarily, it takes away waste products from those tissues.
It's important to keep it healthy to preserve your bodies functions in an optimal state and to avoid getting strokes/heart disease/peripheral vascular disease.
(in a nutshell)

Re: Circulatory System Questions

it also helps to transport white blood cells to fight infection.
take hormones to certain parts of the body, i.e. ADH anti diuretci hormone to your bladder.

The circulatory system is, as everyone else is saying, for the blood to transporting oxygenated/deoxygenated blood around your body

a crude diagram:

I assume that's what you are supposed to do?

Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circulatory_system too.

There is tons of info on the 'net on this topic - you just need to do some work to collect, sift and present the information.

My experience of this suggests it's laziness.

Because there are lots of people here with lots of different ideas and views on subjects, rather than just a dictionary definition

Yeah - and no Internet to do my homework for me.

This meant I had to read books and then write - with a pen - and maybe draw diagrams. This process helped in learning the material.

The value of this is completely lost on youngsters these days, who think everything should be done with the click of a mouse. As far as I'm concerned, by dragging the answers off the 'net they're not really learning anything.

I was talking about this only last night, in reference to University acceptance criteria. They've dumbed down primary and secondary education. Handing out GCSEs like confetti. And then they make passing A-levels easier too, and the end results is that if they then get to University, they have no idea what work is required and they often lack the most basic research skills.

Of course the Universities try to respond to this by increasing their offers, though they're under pressure to match the desired statistics for the government. It's no good for the government desiring 50% (or whatever the figure is) of people to attend University, if they then sabotage the basic education.

I'd love to hear your ideas and views on gravity. I get so bored with all the people that just think it's just
I mean, does no-one actually care whether the bodies actually respect each other? Is it just about physical attraction, or does love come into it at all?
