Do you get pain while texting?
Texting has caused a massive increase in Repetitive Strain Injury suffering. So, another thing we can blame texting for (that "language" called txt spk being another).
To read the article (and some handy tips for sufferers), go to http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/02/22/text_injury/

Also it has been noticed that a lot of people who text start doing a lot more of their every day jobs utilizing their thumbs more.

Re: Do you get pain while texting?
I have always wondered about the real point of Blackberry machines. My phone has email (which is, AFAIK, the only thing a blackberry really offers), but, TBH, I never bother to use it. It's not even set up. I figure that if someone needs to contact me, they can phone or text me. If they email, they have to wait until I am at a PC.

Blackberrys notify you when they receive email messages, afaik with an 'ordinary' mobile you have to log in to find if you have new mail??
We have a couple of our managers travelling abroad, atm, keeping in touch with them using Blackberry email is a lot easier than phoning due to the time differences & is more flexible than text.
- however, I don't use a mobile of any sort, so I agree that buying functionality which you don't use, is not necessary.

True it is. However, I thought the tips might be useful,

Re: Do you get pain while texting?
I was in Oxford a few months ago in a clothes shop and there were these hoodie tops which had 'thumb holes' on the cuffs pressumably for people to be able to text while their hands were covered by the cuffs, chav-style....

Re: Do you get pain while texting?
Try using predictive text. It will save a lot of keystrokes.
