I need to find where this place is
Does anybody know the name of the town please, ive tried every search i can think of, you are my only hope

Yes it is, and its a mill town, but not lancashire.

My best guess is Macclesfield. Those houses on the hill look a bit "Cheshire". Other ideas: Hebden Bridge? Todmorden? New Mills? Mossley? Marsden/Slaithwaite/Linthwaite?
Google Earth does West Yorkshire well. If you've got a fast link and some time on your hands you could follow all the canals.
Do you have a higher-res picture? I'm wondering whether that green and white sign would be readable.
