Angry Six quid for a valentine card!!!

I am not much for cards for occasions as I think they are a complete rippoff. However, with the valentine thing round the corner I found myself effectively compelled to get one. They were all £5.99 in the shop I looked

....and yet the "but how much do you care for them?" lark will be wheeled into play if you say anything. I'm sick of it - it's xmas, then birthdays, then easter, then mothers day, fathers day, etc....it goes on and on. I think some party was trying to bring an "Uncle's day" in and I think there are some others being worked into the equation in association with Clinton cards and the like

I suspect a lot of men would say that - possibly about more than one woman throughout their life. lol.

But the card/flowers/chocolates is really the minimum you can do. If she is really worth it, you need to do even better.

Re: Six quid for a valentine card!!!

ive come to this conclusion:

women arent worth it because they love you when they need something from you, when they have it they dont bother being all love dovey do they?

maybe im just bitter about valentines day, the last time i decided to do something it ended with a muted response, i shall not be attempting anything ever again, hell maybe if I ever got something from someone it would make me happy ish, maybe i like the falseness of valentines day, yes its commercialism..

Then she was probably not 'worth it' - at least you found out for the price of a card...

Just because you might have landed a gold-digger, don't assume all women are like that, it's an insult.

Re: Six quid for a valentine card!!!

Save money and make the card yourself.

It will be far more personnel, and you can right whatever you want.

Re: Six quid for a valentine card!!!

I only get cards for the one I love from Moonpig. OK - they are quite pricey - well actually they are not really - £3.00 for a personalised / your own text / printed and delivered to you or the recipient.

I'm not saying what one I have got this year, cus she has a habbit of lurking as a guest on CableForum these days and she's probably reading this....everyone say "Hello Theresa!"

...christ - she's gonna kill me!

Re: Six quid for a valentine card!!!

Cards were originally to used to send a message when you couldn't be there to give it in person. Somehow, the card manufacturers have twisted thinking around so that you have to send a card for christmas, birthdays, births, valentines day and whatever spurious occasions they can invent. They are a total rip-off.

And don't get me started about the horrendous waste of paper that they are.

Re: Six quid for a valentine card!!!

There are some shops that sell their cards far cheaper than others. We usually buy quite a selection in one go to cover upcoming birthdays etc. I have had some very good cards for 99p which have been far better than some of the five and six quid ones sold elsewhere. I usually get the ones with several pages of long verses and never pay more than £1.99 for them. Sod paying six quid for one that just says "Happy Birthday".

What gets me are the ones like "To Aunty on Mother's Day". Won't be too long before you have the "Happy Mother's Day to my next door neighbour's Uncle's friend's cleaner's Sister" if some of the card companies get their way.

back to the subject at hand i think i would do it all over again if i had to, its up to the individual, you could go down the classy route of flowers, cards, even poetry it all depends on what your own creative mind wants to do.
