I want to be a vegetarian
thing is everyone i know is furiously cooking up b*stard 'cooked meals' and I am expected to eat them on pain of getting called a miserable git. Thing is I really don't want to eat them, The way I see it is that I don't personally want to witness the execution of these things and yet i expected to drive everyone round to collect these things at the supermarket and have them 'bar coded' out and served up before me on the table.

They're already dead when you buy them mate, so you're not really saving the planet. May as well just eat it, if you don't someone else will

not so much that aspect of it. It's just I don't want them down my gullet. I haven't got strong religious views or anything - just don't want it happening

Re: I want to be a vegetarian
Just tell them you went to the doctor, and you have intolerances towards meat, which can affect your health. ( http://www.eatwell.gov.uk/healthissu...s/meatallergy/)
+ you can get more protein from a lot of other foods without meat in them.

Re: I want to be a vegetarian
If you want to be a vegetarian then go for it, explain to the people around you that you have decided to make the change in your diet and that while you don't expect them to change you would prefer them to support your effort. These days the food being offered in supermarkets for vegetarians (frozen, prepared or just raw ingredients) is staggering. I've been a vegetarian for about 13-14 years now and believe me when I say it's easier than it used to be to get Vege friendly food
The choice is yours but the will power also has to be yours

LOL i like that
I assume you're only just becoming veggie? That's a massive decision, meat can be a big part of someone's diet.
Good luck to you though
Are you gonna be one of those that checks sweet wrappers for gelatin and all that?
And a fish eater or not?
Just curious

No - that's not true. I was a vegatarian for many years but got 'talked out of it "f or my own good"'
I was told that Chicken was a sort of "honorary vegetable" and it went from there

 lol
If I was you I'd just stick to what YOU want to do. It's up to you what you eat so if you want to be a vegetarian go forit.
If anyone questions you about wether you will be able to maintain a healthy diet, let them know about the food you can eat to make up for meat and how it is fine for you.
Oh and tell them that...by you not eating meat, there will be more for them.
Good luck.
