I've used patches in thepast and never experienced this.
However, I suggest you get some 'sticky stuff remover' - outfits like Kleeneze etc. flog this - I think you can also get it in supermarkets.
They're citrus-based glue dissolving agents - not nasty to the skin yet VERY effective.
Alternatively, use nail varnish remover - sparingly - and wash well afterwards.

My other half stopped a few months ago and she had the same thing as well....maybe we just have sensitive skin.
Already tried the nail varnish remover and my arm is like a cross between a pound of mince and robbie williams arm in the rock dj video
Will try the other things though...will pop into the supermarket tomorrow. Cheers

Re: Elastoplast Glue?? Grrrrr
Wet the plaster in the shower before you try and remove, this loosens the adhesive.

Re: Elastoplast Glue?? Grrrrr
Might be the heat of the water softening the glue rather than it acting as a solvent.
I'd go with ScaredWebWarrior's 'sticky stuff remover' suggestion if you haven't tried it. Should be less irritating than the nail varnish remover (acetone) or surgical spirit.
Incidentally, a lot of the irritation of those other solvents is because they're drying agents: a moisturising cream might help. Come to think of it, a lot of creams might soften the glue quite effectively anyway.
And good luck with kicking the Vile Habit! ;-)
