Low fat recipes
Does anybody know where I can get recipes for low fat meals.
The only ones I find tends to do foods that will only be served in posh resturants, and not what the average person eats.
Plus the quanity would not even feed my 2 year old nephew

Low fat meals are easy to knock together, just use plenty of chicken, tuna, rice, lean meat, corned beef, eggs, Vegatables, salad, fruit. It's the carbs you've got to worry about not so much the fat, a man needs 92grms of fat per day just to survive, a woman needs 83grms per day, that's a hell of a lot of fat. Just eat right and you'll not go far wrong, spoil yourself once a week with a litte treat.
Avoid these ready made healthy option maels from the supermarkets, they are full of hidden sugars and fats, they might say 99.9% fat free, 99.9% fat free of what? 300% 400% 500% this is how they base them. Just cut the carbs and the weight will fall off.

Also the reduced calorie Campbells soups are great too.
I am switching to the lower fat version of whatever is going (provided it is not higher in salt).

Re: Low fat recipes
Probably a few of the recipe links on my site will help you out (no spam intended here).

Re: Low fat recipes
I believe that if you dramatically drop your fat consumption then your body will lower it's meatbolic rate and you will have a harder time actually losing fat.

as far as I know, that will happen with any reduction in calorific intake, but I guess that with fat having more than twice the calories of protein or carbs, you would tend to notice an effect, sooner.
that is why I maintain that any attempt to lose weight by dieting, should also be accompanied by exercise to help maintain the metabolic rate.

Definetly, but if I suspect that if you drop fat then your body will try to hang onto it more. The rise in obesity in the western world is mirrored by the rise in low fat foods (for whatever reasons)

One reason for that may be that many 'low fat' foods are packed full of sugar & starch. Those bloomin 'healthy' cereal bars are a case in point, '95% fat free', but absolutely crammed with sugar.
Some 'fatty' foods I just couldn't give up, though - cheese being one. It is possible to substitute e.g. yoghurt for cream, etc, but I can't bear 'low fat' cheese, so I'm glad I havn't got a weight problem.

Re: Low fat recipes
I think people put too much of an emphasis of low fat food (which as mentioned are often sugar heavy) and forget all about the merits of exercise and end up being obese. I say eat what you want in moderation, and keep exercising.

I don't have any scientific evidence to back up my opinions on this, but I can speak from personal experience. Several years back I'd gradually got too big and wanted to lose two stone. Rather than any 'fad' diets I just went for an ultra-low fat diet. So where the recommended fat intake for a man is 95g a day (IIRC) I was having something like 8-10g a day. I did this for two months and lost two stone.
I was constantly hungry for the first month, but I did lose the weight and I have kept it off. Now I can't eat as much as I used to, I get far fuller far quicker - which I presume is why the weight has stayed off.
I guess different things work for different people, but in my case going low-fat is by far the best diet - and better for your overall health too as you're having a more balanced range of foods.

Re: Low fat recipes
My dad was told by his doctor to lose weight, so my mum and I watch what fat we have in the food we buy.
I don't know how many saw Paul Makenna last night? It has provided a good idea to use with what we are doing already.

This could also be down to the way you (as a male) store fat.
I didn't realise alcohol causes fat to be stored in the liver.
