Car jacking

Not sure if this is real. Both thought it was worth sending on just in case it is...

This seems to be a serious message and, even if it isn't, it might tempt
someone to try it out ...

ALL CAR OWNERS AND CAR DRIVERS, PLEASE READ
(Originated from Alliance Cornhill insurance)
Be aware of a new car-jacking scheme. You walk across the car park,
unlock your car and get inside, lock the doors, start the engine and
select reverse. You look into the rear-view mirror to back out of
your parking space and notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window.
So, you shift back into park or neutral, unlock the doors and get out to remove
the paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view. When
you reach the back of your car the car-jackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car
and take off. Your engine was running and you would have left your
handbag or briefcase in the car.
APART FROM NICKING ANYTHING OF VALUE, THEY MIGHT FIND YOUR ADDRESS AND
THEY ALREADY HAVE YOUR KEYS!
Remember, if you see your rear view blocked like this just drive away
and remove the paper later ! It is stuck to your window!
THIS SCAM IS HAPPENING IN LONDON RIGHT NOW AND WILL SURELY SPREAD
TO OTHER AREAS

Re: Car jacking

Well it actually happened to someone where I work - only the thieves waited until most people had left work and there were only a few cars left in the car park. They pulled the car park gates shut, so the next person to leave drove up to them and got out to open them..........just in time for the scrotes to jump in and drive off in his car.

Re: Car jacking

You should also be aware of defrosting your car and going back in the house.
Leaving it running.

Thieves** love cold icy days.

It is also an offence to leave a motor vehicle unattended with the engine running.

Probably is a hoax, and probably just a coincidence when scanning through the news channels on Sky today I heard it mentioned on one, that an increase in crime and they made a point of mentioning car-jacking as an area with a big increase recently.

I quite like the idea they have in South Africa with a flamethrower fitted to the car.

No, the owner of the car got out and opened up the gates so that he could return to the car and drive out - but a couple of blokes jumped in and nicked it!

I think it's only on the public highway, but if your car was nicked because of it (or if an accident was caused because of it) I doubt very much that the Insurance Company would fork out!
