New gillette razor

Oh hang on, I thought the mach3 Power was the best blade on earth....oh but no, those idiots at Gillette have decided to bring us the Fusion, a 5 (yes 5) bladed razor - see more at www.gillette.com/homepage.asp

Whats the betting the price will go up in conjunction with the blade increase

My local morrisons has to lock the razor blades behind glass due to the sky high price charged for some of them.

My trusty electric razor does me fine.

Re: New gillette razor

Just got back from watching Harry Potter at the cinema, and there was an ad for the philishave with cream stuff that's supposed to stop razor burn but doesn't, anyway, it starts with taking the mickey out of a new wet shave razor with something like 12 blades, but maybe they weren't so far from the truth!

Yes but logically, unless your face is horribly disfigured or massively double-jointed, I think you'll only be using 5 at any one time.

Only one? That's a little outdated isn't it?

Re: New gillette razor

When I switched to Mach3 (which I quite like), I found that the width of the contraption was something I needed to get used to. Unless the width of the blades has been reduced considerably, I don't think I could deal with two more.

---------- Post added at 00:35 ---------- Previous post was at 00:27 ----------

Incidentally, I remember the 1970s ad for the 2 blade razor. IIRC, the argument back then was that the first blade 'lifted' the hair (apparently the blade was too blunt to cut it), and then the second ('razor sharp') blade cut it. By extension, it would seem that the new razor comes very near to not actually cutting the hairs, but ripping them out instead.

I forget which comedy show it was, but one of them did a skit featuring the new "Macho 10" razor...!

Re: New gillette razor

I used the wilkinson sword quatro, and after a couple of strokes, it was so gunked up with hair it might as well have been blunt, what with the protector bars clogging up too, and unlike my mach3, running (or even blasting) it with water didn't clear it.

Why are the MAC 3's so expensive? There is a company round our way that make them called persona, a mates wife works there and she gets 10 razors a week for her and her husband.
