Thanks chaps but these seem to be copyright protected (well the ones that look any good at least). I need to be careful because I need to supply to a magazine.

The first one you linked to Bifta, has the following limitations to its use:
The photographer must be credited, the photo cannot be used for commercial purposes and the image cannot be changed in any way (including cropping, colouring etc). The full info on that image you linked to is found here http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/2.0/
Also, despite Google compiling groups of other people's images, this does not imply that anyone can come along and use them without even asking permission.
I would suggest the OP looks for one of the low-cost stock photo sites to ensure that he pays what is due to the photographer. We would not be allowed to promote specific illegal downloads of music on this group, and the same should be true for photos too.
I would also suggest that the OP contacts the press office of Cessna - if the image is for commercial reasons then they would be likely to provide a marketing shot free of charge in many cases.

There's a bit of a discrepency between that license and the license I agreed to when I originally purchased the image which says you are able to use the image in virtually any kind of promotional item : websites, advertising, packaging, personal projects, CD or DVD packaging, film and video presentations, multimedia presentations, commercials, books, greeting cards, posters, postcards, business cards, articles etc.
from istockphoto.com, search on Cessna 172
I also would have expected Andyl to check copyright issues first on whatever relevant page the image in on from Google image search.

The license Wikipedia uses grants free access to our content in the same sense as free software is licensed freely. This principle is known as copyleft. That is to say, Wikipedia content can be copied, modified, and redistributed so long as the new version grants the same freedoms to others and acknowledges the authors of the Wikipedia article used (a direct link back to the article satisfies our author credit requirement). Wikipedia articles therefore will remain free forever and can be used by anybody subject to certain restrictions, most of which serve to ensure that freedom.

So, not quite as open, but a great option for sure.

I'm not sure that refers to pictures as well as articles? The copyright statement that is supplied with those shots suggests reproduction is not an issue. Besides, I've only provided the link to the mag, not the downloaded images

Re: Anyone Know Where I Can Get A Copyright Free Image....
If you've got a spare couple of hours to read all the copyright stuff on the Wiki site (I Don't!) I'm sure you'll find out for sure...you might be right, but I would err on the side of caution. Assume everything is copyrighted until proven otherwise! Good luck.
