It's actually very potent stuff, but thankfully it's fangs can't break our skin

Luckily none have come in to my room lately.
They are attracted to light too like Moths so keep the lights low.

Thats sounds like a very good idea Millay.
I might have to get some of those for next year as I'd love to sleep with the windows open and not have insects coming in at night.

Yup - exactly - stopped when I realised I was a naughty boy, and I was leaving scorch marks on the wall.

Re: daddy-longlegs/cranefly
A good old fashioned fly swat! (You can never catch a fly with one but crane flies are easy peasy)!

Re: daddy-longlegs/cranefly
I have a "joke" flyswat that's made to look like a 5 1/4" floppy disk (solid, and with the hole in the middle).
Absolutely useless against anything else, but great for giving craneflies a taste of the speed of flight they'd never enjoy under their own power.

Re: daddy-longlegs/cranefly
What a bunch of wimps you lot are.I grew up having to shake out my footwear in the mornings in case of scorpions hiding in them. What the hell can a daddy long legs do to you lot. They can't bite you and they can't even fly away fast enough.
If I find any hanging around the lights I just catch 'em and put them out the window.
I bet you all regret all those spiders you killed this summer too. They would have sorted the problem for you in no time.
