Pergola covering
Hi all
Just built a Pergola and was wondering what to cover it in...............fabic might blow away so wondered about Bamboo reed covering like http://chinaplaited.en.alibaba.com/p...te_Blinds.html
Any ideas or recommendations ???

I always thought the whole point of a pergola was that it was open to the elements? Other than that it was to support trailing plants such as "Virginia Creepers" or "Clematis". A bamboo screen may well work (as it still lets the rain through) but it will not be weather proof!

That was my impression too. Any covering needs to be growing plants otherwise, I suppose, it becomes an arcade.

Also if it is higher than 3 metres and covered in, it will need planning permission!
