Re: Humour or just plain sick?
I think there is a big difference if these jokes were targetted at people or generic in nature. South Park have made jokes that come quite close to this and they're broadcasted and put on DVDs...

Wrong again, I already posted above I didn't go actively looking for it, what part of this do you not understand?

I am not disagreeing with you on that.

You clearly do not use FB. This is nothing to do with people posting on my wall, I already have that option set to me only. I am on about the ticker in the right hand corner which tells people what activity they are doing. It is updated every second or each time a friend does something and I see it. As far as I am aware, there is no option to turn this off.
But getting back to the point - I disagree with the page existing at all especially on facebook. It should not be on there-period.

I watch Southpark and I have never seen an episode where they joke about dead babies, surely any channel that would broadcast this, would be in breach of the rules around broadcasting code of conduct?
I cannot believe that people are defending this page and it's right to be there, it is bloody sick.

I know you didn't. I thought you said one of your friends posted a link on your page. Hence my comment that you can stop them doing that if you want to

So I wasn't exactly right; but it is something that one of your "friends" did which brought it to your attention. You still clicked on it thouigh

I dont think anybody here is really defending the page, I find the page sick but I dont take offense to it.
Its right to be there however is an entirely different matter and I do believe it should be allowed. I would also assume the reason it still exists is because it does not break any of facebook's rules.
The name change in my opinion is all that needed to be done to ensure people know what they are clicking on before the click on it.

Yes, I did to report it for it's repulsive nature. I didn't ignore it because I wanted action being taken against it.

There is no such thing as absolute Free speech, free speech can only go so far, you cannot say absolutely anything you want to and get away with it. There has to be some degree of responsibility for what people say.

And facebook removed it. The system works.

The 'Free Hat' episode? Granted it's not so much a joke about dead babies but there is a subplot where they are trying to save movies from being updated and accidentally attract a group that wants to free a 'self-confessed killer of 23 babies' to their cause. They get asked about this and the news reporters poses the question: "What you do see as positive about toddler murder?" so tweak, under pressure, answers that "It's easy?" to which the news reporter, darkly, responds "Yes...it is easy". They also reference it later on.

Re: Humour or just plain sick?
There are far worse south parks than that.
The Christopher Reeves episode for instance.
It's scary how people get worked up over something that is rather trivial. It's not like it was porn or drugs. Why a few months ago the police simultaneously raided a few houses in Scotland to arrest 4 people and confiscated computer equipment. Why? Some anti-semitic comments on facebook. THAT is a free speech debate.

Nah Damien that's nothing remotely like the page in question. Far more offensive.
For example - One user on this page put mothers who miscarry more than once, on the same par of a seriel killer? Is this meant to be funny? Doesn't even look like a witty comment to me, looks like someone trying to make a statement.

It is a bit misleading to compare Micks issue with southpark .Southpark is well known for it's "close to the bone" humor and is designed that way with the tv "off" button in mind for those who do not approve so they can controle what they view,a suddenly appearing link or comment by a friend on facebook is not something that is 100% controllable

Yeah, that isn't structured like a joke. Just seems more vindictive.

As I've said repeatedly, facebook is at liberty to remove what people complain about. I was making reference to people saying they wouldn't want this page " anywhere".
I can understand someone being upset that it appears in their news feed. But the friends "action" caused that to happen whether they intended it or not. They could have posted a link to some NSFW page somewhere commenting EWWW isn't this terrible and it would still have appeared in Mick's newsfeed.

It has more to do with emotions..I became a different person the minute my eldest was born and I became fiercely protective. You have yet to feel this.I too could have argued unemotionally and rationality before becoming a parent about such issues but afterwards it does appear different. You want to protect your child from as much unnecessary distress as possible. You also want to retain their innocence as long as possible.
That's what most parents feel and I have had friends who have had stillborn babies or lost children and their pain must be indescribable if they accidentally come across sites like this.
