The perfect family car for me does it exist?
Probably the wrong forum entirely, being a forum on cable comms... but anyway.
I'm searching for the perfect family car for me and my family.
Criteria are:
- Good economy for short journeys (under 5 miles) plus the occasional motorway blast.
- Seats family of four, 1 toddler, 1 new born, 2 adults
- Big boot (>500 litres)
- Under £6k used
- Average, or less than average miles
So far I've been looking at some of the small engined diesel renaults, like a megane estate or a scenic, or similar citroen people carriers, are there some obscure models I'm missing. Or a diesel mondeo/mazda 6. We've tried a C-Max and our car seat doesn't fit with a 6' adult in the passenger seat.
Any other suggestions?

4 door Skoda Fabia hatchback or estate, but not diesel as they are only truly economical over large distance IMHO. Loads appear a couple of years old after being used in fleets, mainly in auctions... but "Caveat Emptor" rules of course.

Accord Sport Tourer.
Ugly as sin but you can fit a small city in the back and the engine will last forever.

Skoda Octavia. My best friend has one as a second car and it's very good.
