Car problem - any mechanics around?
Hi there, I own a peugeot Hdi 307 52 plate rapier which is having some problems.
It has had a rattling noise when driving around for a while now which I thought was the engine cover being loose however it has got worse over the last month. When the car reached around 50mph there is a loud vibration under the car (I suspect from the wheels) which strangely goes away when I turn left. The vibration has gotton worse and now starts even when I am driving at 30mph. I have also recently noticed a creaking noise for example when doing a three point turn when I turn the steering wheel to the left.
I have read this could be something to do with a CV joint (do not know much about cars) however want to have arough idea before I take it to a mechanic.
Any help much appreciated and also how much it may cost to fix would be great.

Sounds like the cv joint ,the bearings could be worn out which would give the symptoms you describe i.e rattling or rumbling at high speed first and then at lower speeds due to increased wear also noises when turning
roughly 100,000 miles for the cv joints to last

Ouch - any idea how much to change a CV joint a mechanic might take?

Could also be your anti-roll bar links. £10 - £15 per side. Plus fitting, probably talking about £75 max from a place that does tyres, suspension, etc.

about £100 -150 per side inc parts ,and i would advise getting both sides done because if one is worn out then the other won't be far behind
