l think people just need to have a common sense approach in that everything is alright in moderation and red meat is no different in that respect.

Absolutely, den - all things in moderation, with an occasional excess; secret of long life and happiness, imho.

http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk...ts_obesity.htm
Quote:
A new report from the British Nutrition Foundation has dispelled the idea that eating red meat is ‘bad’ for us. After reviewing hundreds of scientific studies on red meat and health, the BNF report concluded that there’s no scientific evidence to suggest that eating moderate amounts of lean red meat is unhealthy.
Furthermore, meat may actually help in the fight against obesity thanks to its protein content. The BNF report recognises that higher protein intakes improve the feeling of fullness at the end of a meal and so can help to prevent snacking later in the day. Ultimately, this helps to reduce calorie intakes, which in turn may boost weight loss.

so we may all have cancer and heart problems we will be slim

It's not the red meat you have to worry about, it's the green furry meat that will kill you....

Re: Red meat increases death, cancer and heart risk, says study
You have to wonder if they factored in all the other risks that a person who is pre-disposed to eat lots of red meat might also be taking with their diet, lifestyle such as lack of veg and fibre, exercise etc.
It's not going to stop me having a decent sized steak if I want one.
