Brain Transplant
Would you have one, if needed? How wired would that be?
Would it be possible in 100 years time?
Can you imagine choosing which brain to have?
I have strange thought eh!

Re: Brain Transplant
I think you might find your brain would be transplanted, not a brain transplanted into you, as all that makes you "you" (in an intellectual capacity), is in the brain.....
So, if they transplanted another brain into your head, you would then be someone else.

Re: Brain Transplant
I have no doubt that the transfer of a living brain to a host body will feasible in the future, scientists are already growing human bladders, lungs, and other organs in the lab so I don't think growing a brain is beyond the bounds of possibility.
Undergo a transplant myself? Unless my consciousness could be transferred into the new brain there seems to be little incentive to have a brain transplant. That being possible I would certainly consider a brain that had been specially created for me especially if my body had enough years left in it to make a transplant worthwhile. I think, however, we are more likely to see selected areas of our own brain being grafted into a host brain, after all some areas just deal with the process of coordinating the body and do not necessarily contain our identity. (I seem to remember an article some time ago theorising about the transfer of selected parts of a healthy brain to overcome certain conditions such as Parkinson's.)
If all that was available was a donated, secondhand brain and I could be given the opportunity to coexist in the new brain it could be an interesting exercise as long as I could be the senior partner, so to speak.
Who I would want to coexist with would be another matter. No offense guys but it would have to be a woman as I couldn't deal with the male inability to think of more than one or two things at the same time, plus I would end up with an inbuilt guilty conscience every time I spend oodles of money on shoes. .
However, I have always held the view that two women working in a small kitchen can prove disastrous so, all things considered, I am glad I am probably too old to be still alive when the opportunity arises.

Re: Brain Transplant
At the moment all that cloning does is produce a duplicate but one with all the inherent potential health issues of the original with a reduced lifespan.

Re: Brain Transplant
It would be great to clone myself to do my job for me while I do things I really want to do. Or is that a paradox?
