wire holder/clips/pins (sort of)
what are those 'C' shape pin/clips (minds gone) called? holding the wire to a flat surface, wrap that 'C' round it then hammer in the two ends.

Cable clips, aka round clips or flat clips depending on which profile you need.

Re: wire holder/clips/pins (sort of)
I haven't seen the two-nail clips anywhere for ages. These have some but only in 30mm
http://www.ouros.co.uk/cc.html
If you're using them outside though make sure you get the ones with masonry nails
..Conrad have them in different sizes but only the flat variety

If you want even smaller ones then check out phone wiring supplies as they are the smallest wire staples I have ever found.

What are you using them for as be careful, some can introduce problems into your ethernet/data cables.

Re: wire holder/clips/pins (sort of)
Any good electrical shop should be able to sell you small clips for your 'xmas lights', I used clips designed to hold bell wire.

Come in a variety of sizes.

Re: wire holder/clips/pins (sort of)
O'k we know your using whatever to hold some 'fairy lights', how big is the wire and inside or outside the property?
If outside a 'P clip could be used in conjunction with some string, (Just to hold up lights)
