Egyptian Money
years and years ago I was given Egyptian money notes. I've literally just discovered them in far far away land, my room. anyway I done a google search whether its real or not, I've never been Egypt looks like monopoly money. wiki says something about it being out of circulation for a while but I don't have a clue can someone please help..
the notes have text, central bank of egypt, xx amount in 'piastres' are these valid and can I get it exchanged?

There's 100 piastres to an Egyptian pound.. Exchage rate is about 6EP to £1 Sterling. So that makes it 600piastres per £1.. I think they only did 20piastres and 50piastres notes so makes a 50piastres note worth about 8-9pence

You might get a fraction above the face value. if they are in nice condition, by looking up a Numismatics Society or approaching a dealer at a local Antiques and Collectors Fair.

I 'thought' they counted as pounds - Egyptian Pound, some kind of translation.

Just that 1.65 Egyptian Pounds (165 Piastres) = approx 20pence

Nope, they're the equivalent of our PENCE (just divide by the current exchange rate of 8.4 (the previous figure I gave was an old exchange rate from wiki))
