Re: Which Skoda ?

Ignore any jokes about Skoda's for one ad the fact is many Volkswagens are based on Skoda's and shockingly quite a few AUDI's are now built in the Skoda factories, if an AUDI owner does not believe this just check the VIN plate for country of manufacture and try not to faint.

Re: Which Skoda ?

I have a N reg Skoda Felicia Bohemia estate petrol and love it. Only minor niggles have appeared over the years, and I was able to repair them properly and cheaply. Personal useage will sort out what model you need (and the new road tax rates!). I have found that going to a dealer for secondhand cars is often the most expensive way to go unless you can get a decent warranty from them.

Re: Which Skoda ?

as said, skoda, seat, VW and audi are all part of the VW Audi Group and share chassis, engines and components across all lines. there's really no stigma attached to Skoda any longer and the engines are obviously very good.

just use the normal common sense and checks as you would any other 2nd hand car.

Re: Which Skoda ?

I had an Octavia in 2005 and then swapped to a Ford Mondeo 2008. The trbo blew up on the Octavia and the dealer was a bit rubbish.

The fuel economy on the Mondeo was terrible so in Feb / March this year I bought a 10' plate Octavia 1.6 Elegance. Back to good fuel economy and a nice drive.

Yes I get ribbed by workmates (who drive company Audi's) but I have to remind them it's virtualy the same A5 / PQ35 platform.

Re: Which Skoda ?

Does anyone know if the Skoda range are produced with the same galvanised bodywork as the Audis?

My workhorse A4 estate is 12 years old and still has not a spot of rust or bubble.

I've been considering a Skoda when I come to replace this but it would be useful to know how the build and lifespan compare.
