What does this mean to you?
What does the sentence "thats easy for you to say" mean to you? How would you interpret that statement?

Re: What does this mean to you?
That the person being spoken to has no understanding of the complexity/difficulty of what is being discussed, and therefore is making glib comments?

Same here, but not necessarily with the implication of being glib, as the person may be unaware that he/she lacks understanding.

Re: What does this mean to you?
Ok, to take this a little further........
My wife pulled me up about the way I reprimanded our daughter this morning she said that I could have been more constructive.
I then said to my wife: "thats easy for you to say"
In this situation, what would you interpret "thats easy for you to say" to mean?

Re: What does this mean to you?
In that situation and if I was the wife, it would mean you're useless and I'm better at being constructive

More to the point, as a wife and mother myself, I would have wanted to know why you said "that's easy for you to say".

Thinking about it a bit more, something can also be easy to say for someone who doesn't have to carry out the work that is suggested. I think that's my preferred meaning actually.
In your case, I'd interpret it either as 'it's easy for you to say as you weren't in the situation I was in', or as 'stupid Latvian bloke can't speak English properly and mixes up his idioms'.

I did go on to explain, the argument hinges on what that statement means in English.

Re: What does this mean to you?
Sorry Rammy I think you are in trouble..Unless you meant that she is naturally better at parenting than you are, which is what I'd plead if you are looking for a way out..

My thoughts exactly. As soon as Ramrod mentioned his wile I immediately saw a tapping foot, squinty eyes and hands on hips. I see a large bunch of flowers in Ramrods immediate future purchases. This is not the time for semantics.

I am intrigued, but if even Gary finds it filthy there's a good chance I wouldn't understand it anyway.

Re: What does this mean to you?
All good jokes are filthy...
(It's easy to find on google, but I won't link to it here, for obvious reasons )
