Virgin Media Assessment day - Access Field Tech

Well I got an email saying that the position had already been filled and they were keeping my details on file, which is strange as the closing date for the vacancy wasn't until 20th April, would have thought they'd interview all the candidates before choosing, but oh well maybe next time!

Hello chaps. Some very useful posts on here re the assessment day. I had my telephone interview last week and have my assessment day next Friday. The lad on the phone from Virgin told me what to roughly expect ie, group activity, 4 min presentation, role play, technical assessment, however reading some posts on here it seems as though the presentation is the main focal point.

Anyone else going to the assessment day in Birmingham next Friday? I hear its for people going for Tech jobs in Wolverhampton, Tamworth and Coventry...

Really looking forward to it to be fair. Not nervous at all. From what people have been suggesting re the presentation, i'm going to steer clear of sports and my current job and go for something unique which I presume has not been presented previously.

I hope I get offered the job as have done office work all of my working life and have always wanted to get into something more 'hands on'. I come from a Customer Service background so know how to deal with the public. Fed up of sitting behind a desk though so fingers crossed for next Friday!

Could anyone give me a heads up of perks/benefits you get for working for VM?
ie bonus? tv/phone/internet package? private use of the van etc?
They job advert stated the salary is £18,500 but im not sure if this is starting salary or after a probation period...?

Just to add, after looking through the email again it states that the presentation should be about yourself and you shold try to mention certain things. (which are listed) So it seems as though they've tweaked it slightly from previous days where you could pick a topic to talk about.

Had my assessment day on Friday. Saturday afternoon I got a call to say id got the job! Over the moon. Have been given a start date of 30th July and can't bloody wait.

For the record, id suggest the dreaded presentation holds a big part in the selection...

I had my telephone interview last Thursday and am currently waiting to hear if I am going to be put forward for the assessment day. Was told I would hear within 7 working days so I'm eagerly awaiting the news...

Anyone know where the assessment centre would be for applicants in Newcastle/Sunderland area?

If it's the access field tech one based in Sunderland, then i believe the assesment is based at their sunderland base in pennywell indst estate.

I've also applied for this one but havent heard anything back yet

I applied on Monday evening, not heard anything at all yet, but last time it took nearly a week before i heard back for the telephone interview so i'm still hoping i hear something
