Just heard back about this, this morning, been invited to an assesment day next monday!

Only thing that worries me is my lack of experience, but they invited me to assesment so im guessing they provide training on the job?

To answer a few of the questions.

The Assessment usually follows the path of

A presentation of some sort and an introduction etc.

Team building exercises to show how well you work as part of a team and how you get your views across to your other members.

Technical side, You're usually asked to wire up a telephone line or a broadband cable etc.

This may have changed so just be prepared for anything. Good luck lads.

am a little worried about the techincal bit, not sure what to expect i have heard they will show you before hand so you know what to do,

I am very techincal minded but havent got the expernice to prove it

I'm the same Jamie, but they've invited us to assessment so they mustn't be after experienced techs, i assume there will be training

Yeah i think they'll demonstrate what needs to be done first, aslong as you're technically minded you should be ok

From a TV, Phone and Broadband provider expect something along the lines I've said for the technical part above.

You can research stuff like Telephone socket's and what's inside the casing all over the web and particular at Sky/BT forums as they utilise them for ADSL broadband of course.

You could be asked to attach various connectors onto Coax and screw them into a cable modem etc.

Who knows but be sure to think about the possibilities a provider would want you to do. Most of us on the forum know the in's and out's of an installation with the majority being able to install the whole thing themselves from scratch so do feel free to fire away with anything that you think will trouble you.


I'll assume too Virgin will provide you with a 'Standard Op' for the technical part, It's basically a sheet of paper with step by step instructions. If they do provide one of these. Follow EVERY last detail. They may not do that but if they do just make sure.

The bit i get stuck on is when u connect the coax to various diffrent connectors but i have a lot of wire like that at home so might have a go, Wat u think?
