While in the US I looked down and found a thread waisted wasp sat on my arm, when you're used to the tiny wasps / bees we find in the UK these things kinda make you jump, they're about an inch long and you can see the stinger pulsing on the back. That said they aren't particularly nasty and it didn't sting me but I was glad when it chose another surface to rest on.
