Unusual help required - balloons/helium/strings - covering paintings!

hey guys

this is an unusual request.
i have an event taking place at a venue and i want to cover some paintings for half a day - 6-7 hours.

i am unable to take the paintings off the wall or touch them, but the best option i have is to cover them with balloons,

now i'm pretty new to this, so excuse my comments if i am sounding silly.
i will try and be specific.

painting 1.

now there is one painting and it has a chair below it. i was thinking i could get a bunch of balloons connected with a string and attach it to
the chair, this should cover the painting? i won't need helium in these balloons will i?

painting 2 is above a door (entrance) there is an air-conditioning vent right above the door .

is there a a way i can use balloons again? without damaging the wall? any special tape which does not leave residue... i could perhaps tape to the vent...

my questions:

how do i tie the balloons together in a group? what do i need
and how can i have one main string holding the balloons (the one i attach to a chair to keep it in place for example)

i hope you can help.
its quite important..

thanks

Re: Unusual help required - balloons/helium/strings - covering paintings!

why do the paintings need to be covered

yes you will need helium ,balloons do not float unless filled with a lighter than air gas (helium)

1 balloon tied to a long string all the others tied to the long string at the top next to the 1st balloon

hope this helps

ps bluetack will hold the strings to the wall or other object for the few hours you want

An event with helium balloons? I fear they will be taken as souvenirs... unmasking the paintings. I think drapes over them would be a more sensible idea.

Just use some thin fabric covering the pictures and that will cost less, But if balloons are needed use the above suggestions?

A patterned scarf draped over the painting can hide it whilst looking like just a patterned panel.. Ballons can and will movewhen you open/shut doors also they will be grabbed as few can resist playing with them

the balloons will be kind of high up and no-one will touch them. paintings are bit indecent and it will be difficult to put a drape over them. balloons are fine as a temporary measure even if its not completely covered. i know it will bring more attention to it, but its fine...

ok so helium, balloon and strings is what i require.
