Ebay reserve.

I've got something on ebay and I've stated what the high reserve is. I've started it at 99p.

why are people bidding on it so low when they know that the reserve is a lot higher than what most of them are probably going to go up to?

Equally one could ask why did you start the price so low if you wanted a high reserve, or were you just trying to be cheap on the submission fees and now you are seeing people bidding who are being equally as cheap

I'm just using my brain with the 99p, Rob. but there's no excuse for them thinking it's going to go for whoever bids the most under the reserve

You sure they don't think it's one of those lowest unique bids wins

I don't know. it might be tactical what they're doing, but it's not going anywhere unless it reaches the reserve

Unfortunately by having such a low starting price it may not reach your reserve. It does not matter what somebody bids as it will only rise by the next bid increment amount until your reserve is met. You could have 5 people having made bids at or above your reserve but it may never get there due to the increment rise, which at that start price is only pence for each bid.

I have 41 watchers, and many asking the BIN price. the 'proper' bidders who know what they're doing will bid over the £900 reserve price towards the end of the auction.

that's if I don't sell it before the auction ends, which I probably will anyway.

you expect £900 and yet start the auction at 99p. You really can't expect it to be taken seriously do you.

I was merely questioning if anybody on here was having a duh day on my auction, and whether they wouldn't mind having a duh day somewhere else instead

Some bid a low price as they think it'll stop the auction from being withdrawn (which it doesn't but not everyone knows the seller can cancel bids). Also they hope that if the price doesn't reach the reserve then they'll get a 2nd chance offer at their lower bidding price.

Maybe they're hoping you have a duh day and accept their bid.

If it doesn't reach the reserve and you are having a duh day then I promise I'll give you a £1 less than the lowest bid How can you resist?

The bidding is at £263.34 now with 3 bidders.
I just think that these 3 haven't seen the reserve price or are being tactical in the way of pretending to show little interest.
