Thanks
I think that this is a good place to do this? I have had a hard time recently and went off the rails and tried to top myself. But after talking to a few members on here before and after the fact. I feel that I should be for ever in their awe (you know who you are)
Apart from the shrink and the hospital the forum members have been the rock that I have needed.
I thank you all for the support and the messages that you have given me

Re: Thanks
Nice to see you posting again dev. I think a lot of us on here have looked into the black pit of depression at some time in our pasts so never feel that you have no one to listen to you who understands when you need a friend.

Well I will say one thing to you Gary and that is you clearly have never faced true depression as anyone who has knows how crass your above post is.
Saying "pull yourself together" is about the single most unhelpful piece of advise you could have given.

I cant believe Gary that you think It's just a matter of "pulling yourself together " You clearly do not understand depression as if you did you wouldn't post that. Nobody goes out and buys depression. Nobody wants to be depressed but it happens and It's not just a matter of pulling yourself together and that's it.
Would you have the same attitude if someone came on here and said they had a broken leg or arm or whatever. I dont think so. The mind boggles

It's ignorance, for the most part, unless people experience it first hand, they're completely ignorant about it.
People would much rather offer flippant "advice" like "Oh, just go outside and get some air" or "pull yourself together", rather than look into the condition and understanding it beforehand.
Speaking from experience, as I to, have depression.

Thats very true if you have clinical depression you cannot just pull yourself together, its not like waking up in the morning feeling a bit down its much more serious, when i was ill i just stopped short of actually needing inpatient treatment, and instead was under my local hospital outpatients my depression lasted around 10 years, leading to the end of my marriage as i sank deeper and deeper,in the end i have found some peace now,and feel i am not cured but actually coping using techniques,if only it was as simple as just pulling yourself together.

I'm so so glad that you are feeling better as It's a hard thing to come out of and a matter of finding the right meds to help you personally. I'm glad you are feeling much better and have found peace and there is posters here all the time if you ever need help who will help you if they can.

Re: Thanks
Thank you and thanks for the support as some of you will know that it is hard? The meds do help but it is the support of the workers and also you friends that help as well? I'am glad that I'am not the only one to go through this? (maybe some not to the extreme that I did)
Thanks to you all

Thanks for that sasha222,i know from my expierience depression is an illness that eats you from inside,my doctors told me at that time they thought the cause is lack of a certain chemical in the brain, and i was put on seroxat, and tranqillisers for a very short time to slow me down a little to gather my thoughts,my last lot of seroxat was 4 years ago, when my GP sent me to the clinical psychologist they have in the practice, and talking to her helped me to break the chain of depression i was in. As we discussed issues i had from years ago,and put them to bed eventually.
Thanks for your kind wishes and offer of help should i ever need it.
