HIGHSTREETMAX.COM how do i get refund? linked to lastminute.com (bank can't do nowt)
hi guys
i made a purchase from lastminute.com last year and automatically i subscribed to highstreetmax.com and they give a free trial and charge 15 kwid a month or so, however i cancelled this immediately.
they don't have a number as such, only by email
money has continued to be taken out of my account since this occasion. i contacted them and then recieved an email the account has been cancelled. i have just looked at my statements and money is still being taken out
my bank is saying they can't do anything i have to contact them and cancel it. i have emailed them again, but we're just going in circles. i have done a google search, this is clearly a scam and its such a shame a company like lastminute.com is associated with such a bogus service?
can you please advise?

How is the money being taken, direct debit? Your bank should always be able to stop further moneys being paid out. Getting a refund would be a separate challenge.

Then you need to contact your CC supplier and get them to cancel it..Your bank cannot do that for you.

Recorded delivery letter to Highstreetmax.com. Demand a full refund and state they have 14 days to comply, attach a copy of the email. Any further debits to the account will be treated as theft and reported to trading standards and the police.
I can't believe the credit card can't block the payments once you have to9ld them they are not authorised. Written letter to them as well, not just relying on a call centre bod, requiring them to block the further charges. If they fail to respond close the card. Whatever happens they can't possibly keep allowing charges to be run up against a card that is closed.

As Rob says get tough with them. Send the letter to the website operator -

Looks like an interesting company from their website

I found out last week that the banks (well NatWest at least) will authorise payments for up to six months against a card that's been stopped due to fraud, so I can quite believe they'd do it for other reasons as well

I think the CC company is talking rubbish as well. Did you get a name of the agent who told you you can't stop it? You are in dispute with the company debitting your account - they should be putting the disputed charges aside and contacting Adaptive Affinity on your behalf.

Which bank are you with? For instance NatWest have a Visa Debit Chargeback line that can help recover money if charged in error etc

I purchased a sat card on line from Ebuyer and was offered as part of the deal a £10.00 cash back. As i filled out the form to action that cash back i realised that i had already signed up with rewards first and that they had used my details from when i filled out the address and payment to ebuyer. It took 5 phone calls to there customer service and at least 10 emails before they would cancel the account. Thankfully i now have an email confirmation that they have cancelled the account and my bank has agreed not to allow rewards first to take any money should they attempt to.
Ebuyer was useless because they would only say i had to deal solely with rewards first. when i asked them why rewards first had used my details from the purchase of the sat card they could only say that should not have happened, They still did not get involved which means i will not be using ebuyer again.
Just had a look at them in depth and they are the same company as highstreetmax.com
