Red Mite Infestation
I discivered today while cleaning out the chickens, Red Mites.
Millions of the little buggers.
I've tried using this spray called "Smite", but ive used a whole bottle.
At first I sprayed the coop, then waited 15 minutes and blasted the coop with a hosepipe on jet spray. Then I cleaned the coop top to bottom with soapy water, and jet sprayed it again.
While the coop was drying, I put some of this powder from the pet shop on the birds, and then went back to the coop to find red mites all over the place.
Can anyone recommend anything?
I thought about a flamethrower but the coop is made of wood.

So most of the advice is spray or stick things in your cracks

Re: Red Mite Infestation
Do they have 6 legs or 8?
Sounds like a daft question but I think the 8 legged ones are predators of the 6 legged variety.

Re: Red Mite Infestation
Damn, this is awful. The hens can't be too happy either.
There's a couple of products and some suggestions here:
