Green bugs on my new rose bush

Ok Gardeners, what to do...

I've just noticed a billion little green aphids most likely all clustering on my new growth. what's the best way to zap em ?

I'm currently using a spray of water & washing up liquid, is this ok, is more or something else needed.

Soap spray is good but don't make it too strong and don't spray in direct sunlight as that can scorch the leaves.

Another organic remedy I've run across is to make a tobacco solution. Apparently the nicotine kills the bugs but is harmless to the plants.

Re: Green bugs on my new rose bush

I just leave them to their fate at the jaws of lacewing larvae, ladybirds and their larvae.... or squish them between my fingers.

I would quite happily napalm the council tree on the pavement outside our home, as it is home to perhaps millions of the buggers, so honeydew is raining down all over my car all through Spring, Summer and some of Autumn.
