Selling car?
Looking to sell my car but don't want to do it privately as I'm not willing to deal with all the enquires/ people wanting test drives.etc
Did think of using one of those sites that offer to buy your car, but I suspect they've seriously undervalued it and various reviews suggest they're amongst the worst kind of motor traders to deal with.
Is it worth taking to a garage/dealer or are they only interested in part exchanges?
Have a company car now so doesn't really make financial sense to keep mine.

Re: Selling car?
As your friends or colleagues if they know anyone that may be interested and let them know how much you want, word of mouth is usually pretty good as I expect you know what you want for the vehicle.

Will try asking around friends, although most of the ones that can drive already own a car.
Most people at work have company cars so I doubt any of them will be interested, good suggestion though.

They may know people who are looking for a car or even a friend of a friend you never know.
You could even post it in the for sale section on here.

Re: Selling car?
Check Parkers.co.uk for a realistic valuation and go from there

Re: Selling car?
If you always use the same mechanic it's worth mentioning it to him/them as well. Another customer may have mentioned that they were looking for another car and he can reassure them as to the history of your car.

Re: Selling car?
Some Independent Garages / Specialists will buy cars for cash, though I doubt main dealers will do this.
What make/model is it? If its easy to sell on (ie mainstream model) then I would think many would buy it from you. You can only ring round/email them to ask
If you don't mind taking a bit less than market value, auction may be a good place to get rid

I know what you mean!
If you are a member of the AA (or know someone who is), they will sell your car at auction on your behalf:

Re: Selling car?
Depends on how desirable the car is. We sold an old Fiesta to a friend of a friend in the trade for him to put on his forecourt at a reasonable price. We've sold other cars on recommendation through an independent mechanic (my brother!).
So, yes some dealers will buy cars without trade-in but you won't get as much as a private sale.
