Holidays
I know it is still really cold. But where do you enjoy going too for a holiday, or do you like different places each time.

Re: Holidays
We like Normandy/Brittany/Paris... but money's too tight to mention this year again.
So it'll be the back garden with a cold (generic) lager.

Re: Holidays
Moved to "Lifestyle"
I don't like beach holidays... I find them boring, plus I don't like the heat.
Mrs D & I both prefer holidays where we see & do stuff, rather than laze around.
We went to the US two years ago, as a 1st anniversary trip / delayed honeymoon. Two weeks travelling around the Western US. We started in San Francisco, for four nights, then took a hire car down the California coast via Highway 1. On the way, we had overnight stops in Monterey, Cambria, and Santa Barbara, before then spending four nights in Los Angeles. We then drove from LA to Las Vegas, via the Mojave Desert, with a night in Death Valley. Spent the last few days in Vegas, plus also saw the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. Awesome, awesome holiday of a lifetime
American Adventure Diary - My American Adventure Pics - Mrs D's American Adventure pics
We haven't been anywhere since then though, due to the cost!
Some past trips:
With Mrs D -
Dublin
Loch Lomond
Biggest ones Pre-Mrs D -
Peru diary and Peru photos
Prague diary and Prague photos
Plus also weekend city breaks to Amsterdam & Copenhagen, several trips to Jersey, and a week in Madeira.
Mrs D and I are hoping to finally go away again this year, even if it's just a weekend break somewhere in Europe. Maybe Bruges or Rome, although Rome may be too pricey.
Her parents retired to France a few years ago, so there is always the option of a cheap flight to France, followed by free room and board. The only problem with that, though, is that they live in the middle of nowhere, & spending what would have to be about 4 or 5 nights there (due to the way the flights are) would be just that bit too much (as we found the last time we went a few years ago). So France is probably a "no"!

For our own hols, we go to Millport on the Isle of Cumbrae in the Firth of Clyde. The in-laws have a flat there so it's free, as well as being perfect for our three young kids.

LOL, cheers
Lovely place, even though it rained all the time!
If we ever go again, I think we'll hire some bikes. I can't remember why we didn't last time, but I think it would have been good.

Re: Holidays
Yep, 2007 was the first of two absolutely miserable summers. Pity you didn't come the year before, it was a scorcher.
Bike hire is a good way to do it, depending where you are and how far you like to ride in a day.

Re: Holidays
I've found a really cheap flight to Portugal in August, so need to sort accommodation and think I'll be booking the flights (£73 return )

Ah, I just assumed that it *always* rained like that
Yeah, I can imagine it'd be great to hire a couple of bikes for the day, subject to the weather

Re: Holidays
We tend to cycle our main summer holiday between a number of places (Algarve, Majorca, North Cyprus, Greece (The Pelion)), mainly hiring villas or flats, and booking flights on-line.
This year we will mainly be in North Cyprus, near Kyrenia.

Re: Holidays
Usually Europe one year and (South East) Asia the next. We're starting to run out of Asia though...
