What is the best way to record TV programs for play back later

Hi,

I was thinking about getting a Virgin V+ but I don't want to extent the current contract, so that looks like that out.

So what is the best way for me to record TV programs from my Virgin TV Box, so it needs a scart (I think) as there no hdmi on it, for play back later.
It doesn't have to be fancy, just something I can record then view that program when I want.

So I was thinking something with a hard drive.

Or/Also can you recommend me a product that can do this out the box?

Re: What is the best way to record TV programs for play back later

I use my archos 705 for travelling and a sony dvd hard drive recorder for static use i.e pause live tv and a wd media player with a 1 tb hard drive for d/l ripped dvds /movies etc googling media recorder comes up with lots of choices. depends what you want to do?? and how much cash is going to leak through your fingers

sorry........ didn't read you post properly (I blame the drugs)

The sony dvd hard drive recorder will record most things from the STB similair to this

If I need to record anything on terrestrial I use my Sony HDD recorder. Not really any stuff though.

Forgot to put my budget £150, but I can push to £200 if needed.

Re: What is the best way to record TV programs for play back later

Is it worth looking at units with freeview or is it going to be purely for recording from cable?

Re: What is the best way to record TV programs for play back later

Just looked and it gone down to £42.99 however they can't delivery and the local Agros doesn't have any in stock, bit of a shame at that price.

I am going to Comet later so will look in there and on eBay.

Re: What is the best way to record TV programs for play back later

Can someone tell me if any freeview box with a hard drive do what I want, and record from Virgin Media or Sky box?
