Re: Okay, this is crazy!
Supply & demand?
Bolton would know they would not get a big crowd against championship opposition whilst Coventry would be hoping for a good crowd against higher league team.
having been to the Ricoh I'd be tempted not too bother - one of the most sterile grounds I'm ever been too and no atmosphere in the vicinity or in teh pubs before the game either
<edit> okay I've made an assumption that you mean football here

Re: Okay, this is crazy!
I've been to Bolton and Coventry, and if that's the price to get out of them,it is probably about right.....

Re: Okay, this is crazy!
Paying £35.50 to get into Bolton seems a bit steep...

It's more expensive to get out.

Re: Okay, this is crazy!
It can't be Bolton/Coventry footie related as they are in different leagues and are not playing each other in the cup.
A standard off peak return train ticket is just over £40....

Re: Okay, this is crazy!
Specific journeys at specific times are priced according to demand, by coach and by train. I have little doubt that you could find the same fares for the reverse journeys, if you were prepared to be flexible over travel time or date.
It's hard to cross check this without a link to the source information though. We don't even know whether these are coach or train fares, much less which website they came from.

Re: Okay, this is crazy!
They appear to be train fares - £35 for an anytime ticket and £17 for an advance ticket - I went to the National Rail website and put in journey's for 3rd Feb at about midday. I got the same price for each tocket going both ways.

Re: Okay, this is crazy!
Sorry, it is train fares - should have made that clear, really. It's for my trip to the Blake's 7 convention, Redemption '11. I've been looking forward to it for 2 years.
My point is: how can it cost twice as much to come back?! Fortunately a return ticket is 'only' £40 or so, but this just doesn't make sense. It's the same distance!
Edit: Oops, I forgot about that time of day thing. Apparently it's cheaper at different times - I'll experiment.

Re: Okay, this is crazy!
It's Supply and Demand. They charge more if there is more demand.
Airlines do the same, especially with these 'Italy for £1" type offers..
