Xmas. how much to spend on the little darlings?
A mate of mine has already spent just under £600 on presents for her 2 kids. she'll be buying them presents all the way up to Xmas Eve. just like she has done since they were born.
I guess she'll spend at the very least £1500 on each. all of which will be made up of bits and bobs. no single item will be worth more than around £150.
What's the most you'd spend on a 9 and 7 year old. before the spoilt rotten kicks in?

I don't have kids, but I have a friend who's wife spends at least £1000 on each of their three children. Then spends up to July of the following year paying for it all at stupid credit rates. Madness.

£200 would be tops and that would only be with a special present like a bike or ipod or similar. just normal presents probably wouldn't be over £150 max.
Lump of coal, tangerine and a few nuts if i had my way!!

Do you think she does it as a way of 'buying their love'?
I believe my mate does.

Voted £100 but would possibly go up to £200.
It depends how deep Father Christmas's pockets are given the recession

Not in her case, I think it's because her mother died when she was young and she's giving her children what she herself didn't get. That's not to say her father was a bad parent but he was working full time to support the family so she became 'little mother' to the younger children.

Re: Xmas. how much to spend on the little darlings?
I've voted for 200 quid (for the 4 year old), but the pitch is queered a little by the fact that Young Nugs birthday is in February, so we've tended to buy stuff for both at the same time.
I'd hazard a guess at £500 for the two, but that'll get whittled down as he gets older

About £200 per head - one large item of between £100 and £150 (such as an Xbox 4GB for the lad, and a Barbour jacket for the lass), then small things such as a book, a DVD, a CD, etc, to make up the total.
That's from us - the god-parents and Nanna spoil them rotten, but that's not our budget..

If I'm lucky.....
(which is why every couple of Christmases I buy myself a joint birthday/xmas gift - this year it will be a Toshiba Folio 100, if the evaluation model I am getting in a week or so is up to scratch )

So a dozen pairs of identical socks and a pair of tartan carpet slippers.
Well we don't have kids (surprise, not) and no close relatives with them so Kymmy's zero option looks good.
