Seen too many such examples of hot housed children who then have a problem fitting in anywhere later in life.

We were in the same position, albeit to a lesser degree, when our son was younger. He was classed as gifted and we came under some pressure to send him to a school that would be able to "hot house" him. We had visited the school and were appalled by the precocious children we were introduced to as shining examples of the students who attended that hallowed institution.
We took the risk of sending him to local schools were he would mix with children of all abilities from our own area and never regretted that decision.
I hate to think what type of person he would have developed into if he had not had the benefit of mixing with a broader slice of humanity.
