Woman in Nectar card row banned from every Sainsbury's

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...yside-10956763

Quote:
A woman has been banned from every Sainsbury's in the UK for redeeming the points on someone else's loyalty card.
Quote:
Merseyside Police arrested her on suspicion of fraud but she has been released without charge. Sainsbury's said the ban still applied.
Mrs Turton, who has been shopping at the store for 26 years, said: "I don't see what I have done wrong other than being stupid and not checking a card which not many people do.
Personally I think she should be pleased that she can now find another supermarket with much better pricing..

Apparently this old lady's card had several pounds worth of cash saved up on it and this woman had been redeeming them. I would say that could be classed as fraud.

Re: Woman in Nectar card row banned from every Sainsbury's

Surely a nectar points shooting up from a few pounds to a few hundred should have sent alarm bells ringing..

It's the same as if someone puts a deposit in your bank account by mistake... It's not your money so why should this be any different and in the end she has defrauded the store whether or not the CPS prosecute and she was too dopey to check the card..

Personally I shop at Sainsbury's quite a lot as there's a lot of stuff they sell that tesco/asda/morrisons don't have a reasonable quality equivalent..

would be interesting to know how she got hold of the card. There is no mention of theft of it. Perhaps it was dropped and she picked it up ? I doubt it was given her by mistake at a checkout thoug

This as well. They typically take it, swipe it, and give it back. To be given the wrong one by mistake the old lady's card would have to been put aside and she walked off without remembering it. Then at the same checkout this woman arrives and her card is again put aside and this time the checkout person picks up the wrong one.

Seems more likely she found it.

I worked with a girl once who used her own tesco clubcard whilst shopping for a service user who had learning disabilities - she was sacked for fraud.

I'm now a manager in the NHS, but I was a support worker for adults with learning disabilities at that time.

Cool, My mum does a similar thing (managing support workers, not in the NHS).

johnosborn is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Woman in Nectar card row banned from every Sainsbury's

How has she the audasity to try and clear her name. What a liar.
We all look at our cards.
When she redeemed all the points, surely she must have realised no way could she have so many points due to her. From the few we earn.
You are a fraudalant criminal and deserve punishment, you should be ashamed of yourself

The owner on the other hand is taking irresponsible risks at keeping such a high value of points on the card. Should redeem them more periodically. You must have more money than sense
