Meryl Streep is in talks to reteam with her "Mamma Mia!" director Phyllida Lloyd for "The Iron Lady," a biopic of the controversial and long-governing former British prime minister.

Re: Meryl Streep to play Margaret Thatcher
OH Dear, now there is a movie never ever to see.
I believe that we have enough famous female stars that even the americans have actually heard of so why even think that they need an american to play an english person.
I would still not go even if the was an english person playing the part as I dislike Thatcher.

Re: Meryl Streep to play Margaret Thatcher
I read the script.... Streep will have a big scene towards the end of the film where she breaks down cryin',repeating over and over: 'It's all my fault! It's all my fault!'
I thought it was very touching....

Re: Meryl Streep to play Margaret Thatcher
don't think her heart is as cold as thatchers
She was a cold, determined, intelligent and quite ruthless leader

Re: Meryl Streep to play Margaret Thatcher
Please tell me why oh why have they chosen a bloody yank to play a former British PM?
So I guess we have no talented British actresses to play her then.

Just the person to stand up to the EU unlike that sycophant Blair trying to purchase the presidency with £billions of our rebate that would have made the current cuts a little less severe.

Well, the American actor James Cromwell (Zefram Cochrane of Star Trek, the farmer in Babe) played Prince Philip in The Queen.
Maybe the idea is to get the best person for the job?

Re: Meryl Streep to play Margaret Thatcher
Well why not wait and see..then pass judgement on the performance..It's a radical idea I know but it might just work...

Re: Meryl Streep to play Margaret Thatcher
Reminds me of one of the Comic Strip Presents.... episodes which depicts a Hollywood remake of the 1984 Miner's strike with "Al Pacino" as Arthur Scargill and "Meryl" as Mrs Scargill
