my boy is in so much trouble
I don't know whether to laugh, cry or contact the Guinness book of records .
My 19 yr old came to me this afternoon wanting to know why his phone had been turned of .On contacting Virgin Mobile (he has a 200min unlimited text rolling contract £10pm)it turned out he had used his full allotment of 3000 texts plus the full £100 credit limit between 28th april and 16th may ....he still has all his minutes left
so a few questions
how is it even possible to text like that ?
do teenagers actually know how to speak to each other any more ?...using lip movement and real wording
will teenagers evolve special digits to facilitate faster texting
where can i buy a copy of VMs' dictionary ,the one that defines unlimited as 3000 as possibly some of the definitions may work to my advantage
and anybody any idea on the best way to roast a teenager
thanks for listening
an irate, hairless,and skint parent

Re: my boy is in so much trouble
Sorry dude but LOL!
Your right though I think teenagers\kids now a days rely too much on technology for communication that the old fashioned way of talking. God knows what they would do if they bumped into someone they once talked to, out would come the phones or PDA fireing off TXT's or chatting over MSN without movement of lips.
Now if it were one of my lot the phone would be taken from them, sim card binned, then they would be made to pay for the credit used & also made to pay the contractual £10 PM up until such time that the contract can be cancelled and if they didnt have a phone it would be tuff.

Don't worry you'll have your revenge at the next family knees up when you can embarrass the hell out of him...

Teenagers are that (bad)good. 3000 texts is roughly 100 a day. If he's got a girlfriend he keeps in regular contact with, there's ya answer.

From the same bookshop which lists the definition of "unlimited internet" with a 5/10/20/40/50/100GB "Fair Usage Policy aka Download Cap". Ofcom allow ISPs to get away with it because they have no way of enforcing it, or no balls to actually say "give these people a download cap".

he's totally lost at the moment because his phone is off and he's having a strop because there are things he has to tell his friends but can't ...2 of which live 10-20 mins away ..he hasn't thought of walking around their house yet ..so i offered 2 cups and a ball of string

And he would probably find a way to connect them to talk to them without having to go around to them

Re: my boy is in so much trouble
I could be worse, last year a kid used a USB dongle to download a patch for a game (COD one IIRC) it was some 2GB.
When they got the bill it was in excess of £3,000.

it's a usb attachment that you buy on contract with a mobile internet provider such as orange ,3 virgin ect they work on the same principle as mobile phones you get so much free allowance per month and anything you download extra you pay for
