Why do people write "This"
It's really irritating on a forum when someone agrees with the post before and then quotes them and writes
This.
It doesn't make any sense, why don't they just write:
Yes
or, I agree
and yes, I know that someone is going to offer an explanation and then someone else will quote them and write "This", just to be ironic, please don't be that predictable, be more original

Re: Why do people write "This"
you did that way to prematurely, you should have waited for someone to offer an explanation then wrote that.
Although, even that would be better than this, at least it refers to the past which is when someone wrote it

Haven't seen it myself on this forum - could you provide an example, please?

Re: Why do people write "This"
Not without reading through every single thread till I come across one, no. The search won't search for the word "this" it's too common, here is an example to explain what I mean on a different forum though

Re: Why do people write "This"
I've not seen 'This' on this forum either, but I have seen plenty of 'QFT' and 'What he said' and ' ' ... It can be annoying sometimes, when you're scanning down a page reading new posts, when you find that someone has quoted something someone else has said, sometimes at length, and then not added anything at all to the discussion. I say that even though I may have done it myself at times ...

Quoted For Truth. Basically the same sentiment as 'This'.

ah right, I don't mind the I agree bit so much, it's not the fact that they haven't written anything else, it's just the term "This" that bugs me

Re: Why do people write "This"
I've always suspected that it is purely a way of getting your post count up. Rather than anything else.

Re: Why do people write "This"
I must be really unobservant as I have never noticed anyone doing 'This' on any of the forums I visit. Seems a bit silly to me. Waste of time posting if you have nothing to add. Must be a post count thingy as muliskilled suspects.
