Interesting Bird
Whilst at the local Park on Saturday 17/04/2010 I came across this very pretty water bird. I was wondering whether any 'twitchers' would be able to identify it? This is not the usual thing we see in the Manchester area
Many thanks in advance for your help
Apologies to the members with their minds in the gutter for the disappointment

Mandarins are one of the few duck species which are not hunted for food - apparently they taste really bad!

Re: Interesting Bird
I love birds....of the feathered variety of course!
I have 2 bird feeders and a water splash and a coconut shell thing filled with some sort of suet that dangles off a tree in my back garden.
It gives me much delight to see all the birds that come visiting.
I have several varieties come to call, but my favourite is a woodpecker.
