End of The World
Ok. This thread isn’t about doom and gloom, its not meant to scare you or inhibit postings of any doom and gloom, im just bored and i want to write about something thats been on my mind for a while, and i want to see what other people think.
Ok, so firstly, I was watching the discovery channel (I was bored then too) , and I saw the Nostradamus 2012 Documentary which scared me 2 grey hairs short of a heart attack, but it got me thinking...........
You can’t deny that over the past 10 years things have been getting worse, take the winter spell at New Year when Australia was seeing midnight temperature records, and recently the volcano eruption, tsunami, earthquakes.
Should we be worried? Not me, everyone, are you worried?
I’d also like to see if anyone has a religious viewpoint on this topic.

Re: End of The World
Not really, if it happens then it happens and as shown by the tsunami, volcanoes, earthquakes in the last decade alone if the forces of nature turn against us then there's little we can do..
As for Nostradamus he's been interpreted in so many different ways.. for example there's one bit that was originally decided to be about napolean, then when hitler can along it all changed to fit him..

It has nothing to do with it. Religion is bases on a story book and a story book cannot affect the planets eco system.

Re: End of The World
There are various end of the world prophecies the thing is a natural disaster would not really mean the end of the world only a change or a rest if you will . The Earths life is finite if you believe in what science says because the Sun will eventually go supanova taking out the solar system anyway and then millenia after that all energy will burn out in the entire Universe
The Bible does have prophecy in Revelation that could be used to fit whats happening now the same as Mayan

Re: End of The World
You could be worried about all these things and still get hit by a bus when you go out today or whenever. Do you worry about being hit by a bus?
We're all going to die one way or another obviously, but to worry about it is a waste time. To worry about it too much will only make what time you do have just that little bit more miserable. Watching TV about the end of the world etc or reading newspapers which like to put fear in you, then you're only going to get more depressed.

Changes that you see now have been happening since year dot.
You're maybe just a little hyper sensitive about what you see or read. No one can forecast the end of the world, we can be hit by an asteroid, wiped out by some virus or super volcano etc etc for all I know, but worried? Err no.
And if it was something like a virus or whatever for that matter, then it could be interpretted that it was 'written' some way or another.

Re: End of The World
I couldn't enjoy living if I allowed worries of dying to overwhelm me. It is a fact that this planet will cease to support human life at some point in it's future, thoughts and fears regarding how long we have before life is extinguished is certainly not something I allow to consume me.
Where there is something constructive I can do to to reduce any negative impact my life has on the planet then I shall attempt to do it and also encourage others to do likewise but worrying myself into an early grave about things I have no control over is something I refuse to do.

Re: End of The World
ok.but..........if you knew 2012 was real, would that change how you go about your daily life?
IE; would you rob a bank, or something stupid just before it happened?

Re: End of The World
Although Revelations does mention this sort of thing, I can't see this being the End of Days yet as other events would have happened before/as well.

Is there anything that could happen that can't be twisted (or interpreted) as part of the revelations?

Re: End of The World
I think until we have a massive ice age we will be fine. It may mean people have to start moving to othe rplace son earth but we will be ok.
People talk of it getting a lot warmer but then they say it is getting a lot colder.
Imagine if you were on a plane or are in space and earth is completly destroyed. You would be the last people alive, the new people to start the world again.

Quite a lot of Revelations was written as a 'code' so other Christians could understand it so there are a few metaphors but the general tone of what the book is trying to say is intact.
In order to understand it you need to know what the purpose of Revelations is. It's not just a book about all the nasty stuff that will happen, it's also about God's message and his attempts to get our attention. It charters the rise to power of the antichrist too - there are lots of things in there that don't sound too far out of the realms of possibility. Like a one-world currency and government, a cashless society, religious persecution etc
Although as I've said, I don't think the days that Revelations describes will happen for a while yet. Am I worried? Well I don't like the idea of getting caught up in a natural disaster. Should everyone be worried? Depends on what you believe really.
