Help me choose which car!?!?!
Hi,
Ok so currently I drive a coupe, a pain in the ass getting my one year old in and out of the back seat, if you can even call it a seat! Love the car, but its time to buy something more practical, but with some fun to be had. I'm looking at a Ford Focus ST-2 but I can't choose between these two. Both same price, but different year, millage. Stuck!

Re: Help me choose which car!?!?!
Wont you still have the same problem getting your toddler in and out, as its still a 3 door?

Have you had a look at the renaultsport megane 175 dci lux, diesel economy (40mpg), bags of grunt with 175bhp on tap and a shed load of torques.
plenty of room for the kiddie wincles inside as their available in 5 door, a good safety rating and their pretty exclusive too.
just a thought

Re: Help me choose which car!?!?!
ST-2 is 225bhp, a lower insurance group than my current car and masses more space in the rear even though, yes, its still a three door.

Re: Help me choose which car!?!?!
My boss had a 57 plate ST and when it got below 1/4 of a tank of fuel, the car went into `Limp home` mode. He was glad to see the back of it. He`s now got a Diesel Mini.

Do they do it in a 5 door then, although I know it spoils the look somewhat it might be a more practical solution yet still gives you a thrill when you hit the go pedal

Yes they do, although I have to start paying silly money (£20k +) for a new car. Ive only found THREE Focus ST's within 20 miles of my house!!!

Re: Help me choose which car!?!?!
You go for broke Pal, and get the one you want.. as you obviously have you heart set on it.
Only forget mileage and forget the year IMO and look for the tell tale signs of it being ragged or stolen,
1. uneven front tyre wear
2. excessive stone chips on the bonnet/bumper
3. check log book to see if its had a lady owner (always handy), normally noticeable from the car park dings in the doors (known as Asda rash)
4. visually inspect the front discs for wear and deep grooves from heavy footed use
5. Outer edges of rear tyres worn.
6. check the boot for evidence of screw holes from amps and subwoofers etc
I could go on but I wont bore you anymore

Re: Help me choose which car!?!?!
Go and test-drive them both?
I would guess the 74k-er (which is the better colour) has been lighly worn (motorway miles) due to its age, but the one with the 24k on (as long as its got ford history) would be worth it in the long run as it will be more saleable when you get rid of it in a few years.
I still agree with pabscars that 3-door is an arse when it comes to getting in and out the back, if ANYONE is going in the rear, stick to 5-door, that is just my opinion.

Re: Help me choose which car!?!?!
I hear you ref the 3 door, but I 100% promise it will be a million times better in the back than my coupe! at the moment my 1 year olds head hits the roof when I lift him out AND anyone over the age of 10 doesnt fit without hitting their head on the boot.

Re: Help me choose which car!?!?!
What sort of mileage do you do? If you're a 12k a year man the first will hit 100K in two years. Are Ford ST engines designed with 100K+ in mind, even if they used on the M-way? Anyway, 75K in two years - alot of it may be on M-way but doesn't necessarily mean it was driven like a saint.

Hmmm so as much as I prefer the blue, the red might be the one to go for! Would be a million times easier if they only had the red one lol

Its purple - i don't care what you say Go for the red one though
OH brother has one and although lives in a very nice area of Cheshire, its always targetted by thieves. Just last week he showed me cctv of a guy trying to steal his alloys at 3am. Seriously, give it some thought because another time thieves also broke into his house whilst his 11 years old was in on his own and threatened him for his dads car keys. Personally I don't think any car is worth dying for

I run the local full-time Kickboxing school, so best of luck to who ever gives it a try.

Was just messing, that said my area is rated v.low on the car theft scales used by Insurance companies, or so im told.
It would parked on the drive all day/all night and when at my gym in a private car park.
