Automated Tele Sales
Hi,
I'm on Talk Talk, but I've been on Sky also, and every day we get between 2-6 calls which are Automated Sales, It literally is driving me insane because I have to drop whatever i'm doing and rush to the phone thinking it's the call I was expecting, only to be met by a Robot.
Is their any way to stop these? Do you have to go X-Directory or something?

Re: Automated Tele Sales
Registering with the Telephone Preference Service cuts out a lot of sales calls.

Re: Automated Tele Sales
I managed to catch one while in (normally they get the answer phone) and got through to a human on the other end eventually.
Sternly told them to never phone me again, they said they'd take me off their list and it's been about 6 weeks without any calls.

Re: Automated Tele Sales
If the calls are from TT and you dont want to ring them, put a post on this forum in the link, like this one http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forum...ad.php?t=39583 will take upto 28days for it to come into effect. I think even when you join TPS TT can still ring and nag you about things, see post 5 here http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forum...ad.php?t=39583

There is, but you have to get it activated on the line first

Re: Automated Tele Sales
To stop them compleatly you'll probably need to take up ACR (Anonymous caller reject) unfortunatly it costs you money.
Registering with the TPS stops most of the UK ones. Many bots call blocks of numbers in sequence so ex-directory doesn't work.
If you're on a mobile / blackberry etc try looking at this app Not looked in detail as I don't use a mobile but at first glance could be what you want.

Re: Automated Tele Sales
I find an answer phone weeds out the robot calls. However it is annoying to have so many borked messages at the end of the day.

Re: Automated Tele Sales
Ditto.
My landline goes straight to the answering machine these days.
I don't think the TPS (or OFFCOM) will do anything about rogue telemarketing that doesn't adhere to the 'rules'.
Most of the crud I get comes straight from Indian call centres, on behalf of unscrupulous UK 'finance companies'.
http://whocallsme.com
Always been ex-directory.
Had a BT line for years (up until about six months ago) without much trouble from nuisance callers.
Been inundated from day one with the Virgin phone.

We have this http://www.truecall.co.uk never had a unwanted call in the 18 months its been up and running. Also doubles as an answering machine, can set up to record conversations, plus if you are not on the "star" list you have to come in via a shield. This basically asks that if you are an invited caller to press a certain key.
Reviewing the logs when I do, the amount of calls that get dropped at the shield is amazing.

Re: Automated Tele Sales
The only thing you have to watch out for is when you buy anything that asks for a phone number is, that you must make sure that you make sure that you ain't giving them permission to call you. If you do TPS won't work.
